• I was awarded the G. Bruce Blair Award by the Western Amateur Astronomers (2010)
• I appeared in a TV commercial for Domino's sandwiches (2008)
• I have been the corporate Secretary of the Orange County Astronomers for several years
• I am one of the Board members of the Society for Astronomical Sciences
